Method of Evaluation
1. Homework – Homework not only reinforces, enriches or extends work done in class, but helps the student develop a sense of responsibility and independence. It should be purposeful and important to the students. It is initiated with a weekly assignment in Kindergarten and ranges from an average of 10 minutes daily in the 1st grade to approximately an hour in 6th grade. In addition to written homework, students are also expected to do independent reading every day.
2. Report Cards – Report cards are issued at the end of each 9-week quarter for students in grades 1 through 6. Report cards for Pre I, Pre II, and kindergarten are issued at the end of each semester. The following grade-scale is used?

3. Parent-Teacher Conferences – Parent-teacher conferences are held following the end of the 1st Quarter and, on an optional basis, following the 3rd Quarter. Additional conferences can be arranged by appointment. Our students’ needs are best served if there is frequent communication between the school and the home.
4. Honor Roll – Students in 4th through 6th grades are placed on the Honor Roll if they have an overall grade point average of 3.3 to 3.64. Students that have a 3.65 grade point average or higher qualify for High Honor Roll. Students’ averages are determined by numerical equivalents that are assigned to letter grades. The numerical equivalents are:

5. Exiting Skills – Students in 3rd grade and 6th grade will need to fulfill minimum requirements before being promoted to the next grade level. Information about student performance will be drawn from the student’s previous academic history, classroom performance, standardized test results, teacher recommendations and student portfolios. If a child is more than one year behind in academic growth and does not have a diagnosed learning disability, then retention will be mandatory. Emphasis will be placed on the academic subjects: reading, writing, mathematics, science, social studies and oral English Language skills.
